FREE Fastpitch Softball Clinics for Girls Ages 8-14

The SBBL is serious about girls fastpitch softball.
We have been running a league each fall for the past 4 years, with teams from Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens participating. And this past spring we started a new spring league, sanctioned by Babe Ruth Softball and PONY, both well-known national organizations. In fact, the Hustlers, one of the 14U teams from our spring league, won the Metro NYC championship, and participated this past weekend in the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament held in Mt. Olive, NJ, against the best teams from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. That was pretty exciting!
In the spring, our girls also play in the Prospect Park league, where they have played very successfully for the past decade.
Our mission is to provide the opportunity for girls to learn the game, and then to get better and better at it.

Our most immediate goal for most of the younger girls, especially in the age 11-13 group, is to see them develop to the point where they can play at the high school level for the public, private, and private schools in the city. And our girls have done well so far, playing for teams like Beacon, Fontbonne, Poly Prep, St. Ann's, Bishop Kearney, etc.
For those older girls, who then are having high school experience, we also offer the chance to play travel softball, both in our fall and spring leagues, as well as in various tournaments playing against the best teams around the city and Long Island, New Jersey, and elsewhere. Many of these high school girls are looking to play in college as well, and college coaches are usually looking for that travel ball experience. And softball can be a great entree into certain colleges, with various scholarships offers and just enhancing a college application on top of grades and test scores.

But it all starts at the youngest ages, and for us that is the ages 8-10 group. That is where the girls learn the basics of the game, and where they can discover which skills they have which can be enhanced in future play.
So, this summer we offer several FREE CLINICS for girls to come learn the game of fastpitch softball, if they are new to it, and to improve their skills if they already have some experience. We invite all girls at all levels of experience. If a player already plays on a team at another organization, our clinics can still be a great way to improve her skills. Our aim is to see the general level of softball in Brooklyn get better and better. So you can participate in our clinics and still go back to your old team. That's fine. And if you don't already have a team, we certainly will welcome you to join one of ours.
So, please come join us! The more the merrier!
AGES 8-10: Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm
AGES 11-14: Sundays, 3:30-5:00 pm
We meet at DiMattina Field, located in Carroll Gardens on Hicks St at the corner of Rapelye St.
(Presently, we do not offer a clinic for 15-16s, but we do have teams in this age division in the fall season, so if you are interested in playing fastpitch softball this September-October, please contact us.)
And remember -- our clinics are 100 percent FREE!
And because they are clinics, not a team -- and this is the summer -- don't worry if you cannot come every week. Come when you can. That's fine. It's all about having fun, and getting better.
And don't forget that on Tuesday nights we also offer a Windmill Pitching Clinic with an NCAA Division III pitcher, a former star at Poly Prep here in Brooklyn. Beginners go 5:30-6:30, more experienced pitchers go 6:30-7:30. It is only $20 for an hour-long lesson, which is far cheaper than you'll get from any private instructors. It's a great deal!
