Hammer-Wielding Muggers Strike From Behind In South Slope: NYPD

Two muggers attacked a man on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn on Oct. 14th, police said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- Police are looking for two muggers who swung a hammer down on their victim's head before making off with his backpack.

The two thieves snuck up behind a 27-year-old man walking down Fourth Avenue near 33rd Street at about 11:50 p.m. on Oct. 14, said police.

One mugger hit him with a hammer and both proceeded to pull off his back pack and scoop up the iPhones he dropped on the pavement, police said.

Emergency responders treated the 27-year-old at the scene but did not take him to the hospital, said police.

Police released photos of two suspects late Wednesday night and are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the NYPD.

The first suspect is a man in his late 20s last seen wearing a black sweater and riding a black BMX-style bicycle, police said.

The gender of the second suspect is unknown, but the person is believed to be less than 30-years-old and was last seen wearing a grey hoodie and a red bandana tied around his or her face.
