Istanbul-Bound Turkish Airlines Flight From NYC Diverted After Bomb Threat
The flight was diverted to Canada after departing John F. Kennedy International Airport.

A Turkish Airlines flight headed from New York to Istanbul was diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia late Saturday night due to a bomb threat that was unfounded.
Turkish Airlines Flight 2 was diverted at 10:50 p.m. eastern time after the threat was received, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. The plane landed at Halifax Stanfield International Airport just before 1 a.m. local time or 12 a.m., eastern time. All 256 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated while police searched the plane.

Police searched the plane and determined there were no explosives on board. The search was completed in a little under four hours. No additional details on the threat were available as the investigation is currently ongoing.
The plane departed Halifax and is scheduled to arrive in Istanbul at 8:22 p.m. local time.

Earlier this week, a Paris-bound plane that departed Los Angeles was diverted to Salt Lake City due to a bomb threat. The same day, a flight headed from Dulles International Airport to Paris was diverted to Halifax due to a phoned in bomb threat. The threat on both Air France planes was unfounded.
