Man Shot In Head After Dispute On Park Slope Street, Police Say

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A man was shot in the head after a dispute along a normally-quiet Park Slope street, authorities said.

The man, who remains unidentified, was listed in critical condition in Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, not far from where the shooting unfolded, NYPD said.

He apparently got into a dispute with another person on Sixth Avenue near Garfield place at about 4:53 p.m., authorities said. It ended when that person shot him in the head while he sat in a car parked outside 264 Sixth Ave., police said.

The shooter drove off and remains on the loose, authorities said. The man appears to be in his 20s or 30s, police said.

Social media erupted with disbelief over a shooting in normally-tranquil Park Slope. A video posted by @finnley_staub on Twitter showed police officers standing around a white car.

"A drive-by shooting literally just occurred in Park Slope, Brooklyn," they wrote.

Other video posted on the Citizen app shows onlookers outside police tape. NYPD's 78th Precinct posted on Twitter that the area will "frozen until further notice."

Police are continuing to investigate as of Friday evening.
