Masked Bandits Nab ATM Outside Gowanus Pizzeria, Cops Say

GOWANUS, BROOKLYN — Masked robbers stole an ATM from outside a Brooklyn pizzeria and threatened to shoot the man who tried to stop them, police said.

The robbery unfolded outside Villa Mia Pizza on Third Avenue and 12th Street about 10:15 p.m. when an employee saw two men hauling the cash machine away, authorities said.

The 46-year-old man ran outside and told the men, dressed in black sweaters and ski masks, to stop, police said.

“If you’re going to come to us and try to stop us," one of the thieves replied, "We will shoot you."

The robbers then loaded the ATM into a dark van with yellow graffiti and sped off on 13th Street toward Second Avenue, authorities said.

Police had yet to make any arrests as of Thursday morning.
