More Coronavirus Testing Sites Opening In Brooklyn

A community testing site on Fort Hamilton Parkway near Green-Wood Cemetery is one of 16 the city plans to open starting June 1.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Brooklynites soon will get three more new coronavirus testing sites as part of a city "test and trace" push.

Two testing sites will open the week of June 8 at 4002 Fort Hamilton Parkway and 6315 14th Ave., a release states. A third site location in Brooklyn has yet to be announced.

They're part of 16 community testing site opening across New York City as city officials ramp up a "test and trace" program designed to slow the new coronavirus' spread.

The goal is to track every coronavirus case in the city and offer people chances to isolate, a release states.

"Helping New Yorkers safely separate is, along with testing and tracing, the key to safely reopening our city," said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. "Separating will help keep you and your loved ones safe—but it isn’t always easy. From providing free hotel rooms to delivering meals, your City is here to bridge the gap, and has your back each and every step of the way as you recover."

The Fort Hamilton Parkway site will be near West Brooklyn Community High School on 41st Street. That's also a few blocks from Green-Wood Cemetery.

The 14th Avenue site will be off 63rd Street.

Both are in or near Borough Park, a longstanding coronavirus hotspot.

City officials encourage people to make appointments by calling 866-749-2660, a release states.
