Park Slope 5th Ave Chinese Restaurant Shuttered For Mice

The health department gave Sun Luck Chinese 39 violation points during an inspection this week, records show.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A Chinese restaurant on Fifth Avenue has been shuttered by health inspectors who found mice in the eatery, records show.

Sun Luck Chinese Food, which also has listings as Sun Luck Kitchen and Sun Luck Chinese Restaurant, was given 39 violation points during an inspection by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on Wednesday, records show. Any score above 28 points requires that the department close the business.

The 197 Fifth Ave. restaurant is found between Berkeley Place and Union Street.

Inspectors visiting the eatery found evidence of mice or live mice in the restaurant and that it was not vermin proof, records show. Sun Luck was also given violation points for food that was not protected from potential sources of contamination and a non-food contact surface that was improperly constructed.

The surface was not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit, records show.

Sun Luck Chinese did not return a request for comment about the inspection.

The restaurant advertises itself as a "straightforward delivery & take-out place offering an abundant menu of familiar Chinese grub."
