Park Slope Short Film Fest, Silent Disco Kicks Off Next Week
A movie night featuring local Brooklyn filmmakers and a "silent disco" party will take over the turf at the Old Stone House.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN â If you didn't get a chance to see the "Shorts on the Slope" short films the first time around, you'll get another chance to take in the collection next weekend, along with some live music and a "silent disco" party.
The Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District and the Old Stone House have announced two free summer events next weekend that will be held on the turf behind the historical house.
The first event, kicking off at 6 p.m. Friday, July 19, will offer some live music by Sweet Megg & The Wayfairers before a special showing of the short films featured earlier this year in the "Shorts on the Slope" festival. The movies, all made by local Brooklyn filmmakers, will start at 8:30 p.m.

The next night, the turf will turn into a silent disco party, or a dancing party where each partygoer brings their own music to listen to through headphones. The silent disco night will start at 8:30 p.m.
Both events are free and will include refreshments from local businesses. People are encouraged to bring their own blanket or beach chairs to set up on the turf.

The short films will be shown in partnership with the Park Slope Civic Council, which put on the "Art Slope â Shorts in the Slope" festival earlier this year.
The festival first ran in 2017 after a 90-minute minute program featuring short films became one of the more popular showings at the the neighborhood-wide arts festival Art Slope in 2016, curated by Bill Schaumberg.
The Art Slope committee, part of the Park Slope Civic Council, then held a screening of "Little Fugitive" last fall as a preview of the second full shorts festival.
Next Friday's movies at Old Stone House also won't be the only chance for an outdoor film night for Park Slopers over the next few weeks.
The free movie nights at Prospect Park's Long Meadow are set to kick off next week and will continue into the end of July.
This summer, the Prospect Park Alliance and Nitehawk Cinema are teaming up to present a slew of outdoor, family-friendly movies that feature women filmmakers.
First up will be a showing of "Brave" on Wednesday, July 17 followed by "Love and Basketball" the week after. For a full schedule of showings and information about how and when to get there check out Patch's guide.
