PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — An annual fair on Fifth Avenue will return to the neighborhood next weekend with its usual showing of hyper-local food, shopping and street fair activities.

The "Fabulous Fifth Avenue Fair," hosted by Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District, will be held rain or shine on Sunday, May 19, organizers announced. The fair will run from Sterling Place to 12th Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is promised to feature more than 200 local businesses.

This year's highlights include local restaurant and bar favorites such as Bogota, Mini Mini, Negril BK and Wild serving up food and drinks along the street with outdoor seating.

Fairgoers can also get in their share of shopping with outdoor tables and racks in front of Fifth Avenue boutiques and shops.

Other activities include live music and dancing along the street, a vintage car show hosted by Antique Automobile Association of Brooklyn and fitness or dance classes. Kids are also welcome to come try out family activities, rides and crafts.

Almost half of the tables featured in the fair will be from local artists and merchants within Community Board 6, organizers said. The event is also sponsored by The Dime Community Bank.

The street fair is just one of more than 100 events that will shut down New York City streets to cars this season in place of outdoor activities.

The city's Department of Transportation recently announced its own list of the 120 car-free events that it will host with 56 partnering organizations. The events will cover 14 miles of New York City between May and December.

Others in Brooklyn include the Willoughby Walks for three weekends in May, a car-free day on Court Street from Atlantic Avenue to Bergen Street in June and another Park Slope Fifth Avenue event coming in August. That event, the Summer Stroll, will close down 11th to 13th Street on August 11.
