There is a process in Yoga for reaching very deep relaxation called “Yoga Nidra” that translates to Yogic sleep. By reclining comfortably and following a gentle guided meditation, tensing and relaxing each individual muscle, watching the breath, students will travel deep within, beneath thoughts. While deeply relaxed, the more peaceful mind will have the opportunity to experience the comfort of a completely relaxed body. To prepare the body for this practice, students will begin the class with supported, restorative postures. A few minutes of gentle, hands on massage will help you to fully let go of your mind and travel deeper into the Restorative and Yoga Nidra practices. Students will emerge from this rest feeling refreshed and renewed. This workshop includes a very gentle stretching warm-up and a short centering meditation before and after Yoga Nidra, as well as a handout to begin practicing Yoga Nidra at home.
