SEE: Man Steals Park Slope Church Statue, Throws It In The Trash

The man was caught on video walking away from the church with the statue after taking it in the middle of the day last week, police said.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man who stole a statue from a Park Slope church during the middle of the day last week only to throw it in the trash.

The thief took the statue just after 11 a.m. last Wednesday from Saint Thomas Aquinas Church on 9th Street. He was caught on video walking away with it in his arms before he threw it in a trash can, police said.

The throw damaged the statue and the man fled from the church in an unknown direction.

The man, who police say is wanted for questioning in the criminal mischief case, was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers.
