Suspect in Grisly Quadruple DC Murders May Be in Brooklyn

Police are looking in New York City Thursday for a suspect in the brutal murders of a Washington, D.C., family and their housekeeper, according to D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier, who held a press conference about the murders Thursday. Lanier said they are concentrating on the Brooklyn area.

The suspect, Daron Dylon Wint, 34, is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7, weighing approximately 155 pounds, according to D.C. Police. Police say he also goes by the name “Steffon” Wint.

He was seen in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, according to an Associated Press report.

If you see Wint, “assume he’s armed and dangerous,” Lanier said. The police chief said that the suspect’s family is asking their son to turn himself in.

U.S. Marshals and the NYPD are tracking leads in New York to find the suspect police say is tied to the murders of Savvas Savopoulos, 46, his wife, Amy Savopoulos, 47, son, Philip, 10 and housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, 57. All were found dead last Thursday while firefighters put out a blaze at the family’s mansion in Northwest D.C.

Police quickly surmised the family was killed before the intentionally set fire.

The Washington Post reports Thursday that DNA left on the pizza led police to Wint.Domino’s PIzza was delivered Wednesday night to the DC mansion while the family was being held captive.

Wint has a record that includes charges of assault, carrying concealed weapons and theft in Prince George’s County, according to several media reports. His home address is near where the family’s blue Porsche was found burning late Thursday, the day the bodies were found. Police released a grainy video of a suspect caught on surveillance video near where the car was found.
