
Painting is
an easy way to spruce up a piece of furniture or dreary interior –
everyone does it at one point, but a simple job can turn into a messy
nightmare if you don't know the basics. Come learn
how to handle paint like a pro, we’ll have an assortment of items from
our Reuse Center on hand as examples and potential take-aways! Feel free
as well to bring something tricky that you want to spruce up and try to
stump the teacher!
Maya Suess, a
visual artist who works extensively in various media. She has worked as
a scenic painter for the film industry and given a fresh coat of paint
to innumerable walls. Come with clothes that you don't mind getting
paint on and ready to have a good time.
Maya Suess, makes drawings, installations, videos, performances and other
mischievous entities. She recently received a 2013 Toronto Arts Council grant for her drawing series Becoming,
and was commissioned by the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives. She was a
2010 fellow at the BRIC/Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn NY and a recipient
of a 2009 Independent Artist’s Grant from the New York State Council on
