Woman Fights Off Would-Be Rapist In Park Slope, Cops Say

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man who tried to sexually assault a woman as she went into her apartment building near Prospect Park.

The man followed the 26-year-old woman into the vestibule of her building, which is found near Garfield Place and Prospect Park West, as she was coming home at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sep. 8, police said.

When the two were inside, the man exposed himself and tried to grab the woman's waist, trying to stop her from going further into the building, police said.

The man ran away toward Prospect Park West after the woman struggled against him. She was not injured, police said.

Police are looking for the man on attempted rape charges. He is described as standing about 5'10" to 6'2" tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
