1 Dead, Another Injured In Wrong-Way Crash In Medford

A 2014 Cadillac sedan westbound in the eastbound lanes of Express Drive South collided with a 2020 Ford Transit 350 van, cops say.

MEDFORD, NY —A man was killed and another injured in a wrong-way crash in Medford — one of two serious crashes in the area that were about a minute apart on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Edward A. Thornlow was driving a 2014 Cadillac sedan westbound in the eastbound lanes of Express Drive South, when it collided with a 2020 Ford Transit 350, being driven southbound on Horseblock Road by Christopher Samson, at 8:38 p.m., according to police

Thornlow, 54, of Shirley, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said, adding that Samson, 58, of Bayport, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of "minor injuries."

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

A 64-year-old man was struck and seriously injured in a crash on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station at 8:39 p.m.
