2 Businesses Robbed at Knifepoint, Man Hurt During Fight on Sidewalk in Patchogue-Area

Police have released details on the three recent incidents around town.

Two local businesses were robbed at knifepoint and a man was hospitalized following a fight on a sidewalk over the past week, Suffolk Police told Patch.

The first robbery occurred at Shakedown located at 554 Medford Ave. in North Patchogue. Police say a man armed with a knife entered the head shop around 8:35 p.m. on Jan. 26. He stole money and then fled.

The second robbery occurred at South Shore Wine and Liquor located at 440 South Country Road in East Patchogue. Police say three men entered, one armed with what appeared to be a knife, and demanded cash around 7:35 p.m. on Jan. 27. The clerk complied and gave them cash. The men also stole liquor before fleeing the store.

No injuries were reported in either robbery and no arrests have been made.

Police are also investigating an assault that occurred in Patchogue Village early Sunday morning. Police say a 30-year-old man was involved in a fight on the sidewalk on Railroad Avenue near W. Main Street at 3:45 a.m.

The man was injured and transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, police say.
