• Pols, Labor Leaders To Call For Widening Of Sunrise Highway, Starting In Patchogue (patch.com) — Local and county leaders are gathering at the Patchogue ShopRite on Tuesday to push for widening Sunrise Highway, starting right in Patchogue and extending about 10 miles east. The proposal aims to add a third lane in each direction to ease growing congestion, and Patchogue is the launch point for what could be a major regional traffic and safety overhaul.
   

• New York Contractor Charged with $160K Workers' Comp Insurance Fraud (insurancejournal.com) — A Patchogue-based contractor, Joseph Arthurs of VGN Enterprise Corp., has been charged with allegedly underpaying more than $160,000 in workers' compensation insurance premiums by misrepresenting payroll, staff size, and asbestos-related work risks. Suffolk County prosecutors say the company actually handled larger, more hazardous asbestos abatement projects with a much higher payroll; Arthurs was arraigned September 9, with his next court date set for September 21.
