Students and staff across the district held moments of silence, planted flags and took part in remembrance ceremonies.
CONNETQUOT, NY — Students and staff across the Connetquot Central School District marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with tributes honoring the lives lost.
Schools throughout the district observed moments of silence, planted American flags and held remembrance ceremonies featuring patriotic songs, according to the district.
Students were also given opportunities to view artifacts and learn more about the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

District officials said the commemorations were designed to honor those who died and help ensure future generations continue to remember the significance of the attacks.
