YAPHANK, NY — Suffolk Executive Ed Romaine will be joined by local officials and first responders to provide an update on the nor'easter impacting the region at a briefing at the county's Office of Emergency Management on Saturday.

High winds, rain, and potential coastal flooding are expected to continue until Sunday, officials say.

Romaine and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman declared a regional State of Emergency. This was followed by declarations at the state level by Gov. Kathy Hochul, Brookhaven Town by Supervisor Dan Panico, and Patchogue Village by Mayor Paul Pontieri.

Officials expressed concern about flooding and erosion in the region's low-lying coastal areas. The areas included Mastic Beach, Lindenhurst, and Southampton.
