Bay Shore Man Shot In Abdomen In North Lindenhurst: Suffolk PD

Police said Michael Bellone, 41, had been involved in a dispute with another man when he was shot.

NORTH LINDENHURST, NY — A Bay Shore man was shot and critically injured following an argument in North Lindenhurst early Wednesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

First Precinct officers responded to a home on 6th Street at about 1 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a man was shot, police said, adding that when officers arrived at the scene, they found Michael Bellone “lying on the ground in front of the home with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.”

Bellone, 41, had been “involved in a dispute with another man when the man shot him,” police said. The two men are “known to one other,” a police spokeswoman said but she declined to release any specifics as to what they were arguing about.

Bellone was transported to a nearby hospital in “critical condition,” police said.

The shooter has not been arrested, according to police.

No additional details were released.

The shooting was one of two that happened within about an hour-and-a -half in Suffolk County. A 26-year-old man was seriously injured after leaving a party at a house in Port Jefferson Station at about 11:40 p.m., police said.
