Boys Soccer Falls 1-0 to Brentwood in Final
Raiders miss out on playoffs, eight seniors to graduate.
The Patchogue-Medford Raiders (5-7-1) varsity boys soccer team missed out on making the playoffs after losing 1-0 to Brentwood (11-1-2) Thursday in their final game of the season.
Brentwood's Jonathan Interiano scored the game's only goal at the 21:56 mark of the first half, with the assist going to Christian Argueta.
Pat-Med's keeper, Keith Orlando, made eight saves, keeping Brentwood from widening their lead.

Despite being shut out, the Raiders kept fighting throughout the game. The team's best chance to score late in the second half came on a cross from Garrett Smith with 13 minutes left in the game, but the shot sailed wide.
"They're perennially one of the best teams on Long Island so losing 1-0 to them is nothing to be ashamed of," Raider head coach Steve Vesey said. "They hit a bunch of posts today so it could've been a lot worse but sometimes you get the bounces to go your way as they did for us for the most part."

The team will lose eight seniors; Brian Cioffi, Brian Mannion, Jesse Rosales, Lisandro Sanchez, Garrett Smith, Kyle Smith, David Turcios and Steven Vaughan.
"We were just shy of going to the playoffs, which was our goal," Vesey said. "We faced a little adversity in the middle of the season which came back to hurt us but we finished strong going into Sachem the other day for a tie and we played really well today…came real close. Overall it was a great season."
Vesey and coach John Albert now set their sights towards next season, which will have 10 returning players.
"We have a lot of players that have to get experience but they've been with us and they know what it takes. We've got 12 guys coming up from JV to help us to so we should be OK around the middle of the pack next year," Vesey said.
