Appointments (Updated)

A NU concept!

Update 1/26/11: I wanted to say thank you to Village Clerk, Patti Seal for the letter I received from her this morning. I will be following up with the Village this week.

For those of you who are not aware, there is an opening on the Ethics Board for the Village. The procedure involves writing an inquiry and sending it to the Village Clerk at PSeal@patchoguevillage.org.

I stumbled upon this information when I attended a Village Board Meeting on January, 9, 2012. I was told by the Mayor to submit a letter of inquiry to the Village Clerk. Promptly the next day I sent an emailed letter to all of the Trustee's, the Mayor and the Village Clerk. Approximately a week later I got a response from one of the Trustees. I was told that they had several candidates and that they would be in touch with me. I thanked them for their response and told them that I was looking forward to hearing from the Village Clerk.

It was two weeks to the day yesterday that I emailed my letter of inquiry and I have not heard anything yet. I have not seen the position advertised anywhere and no one has told me that they saw an advertisement either. I am waiting to hear when the Candidate Screening date is.

Recently, I was told that a person was approached by the Village to fill the Ethics Board position. I am wondering if anyone else out there feels that these type of Board positions (Zoning, Planning, ARB, Ethics, etc) should be publicized to the Village Residents?

I also, read that at the Village Board meeting the officials are interested in appointing 5-7 residents to investigate the type of allegations (gas/credit card) that have been being tossed around. After, listening to the 10 Principals presented at the NU Village meeting last night. This is exactly what everyone in the room seemed to agree upon. NuVillage suggests a LOTTERY, if you are interested in your Village and can dedicate time to a meeting and developing guidelines and procedures, you throw your name in and if your name is pulled out, then you serve. Your HEART has to be in it, and you have to CARE about where you live. Your comments are welcome.
