Dog Found Abandoned, Tied To Pole; SPCA Seeking Info

If you recognize this dog, contact the SPCA. A person convicted of abandonment of animals could be found guilty of a misdemeanor.

PATCHOGUE, NY – A 10-year-old dog was found abandoned and tied to a pole near a Suffolk County Walgreens this week, according to the Suffolk County SPCA .

The SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for abandoning the female puggle, who was found near the Patchogue Walgreens on West Main Street on Monday.

The dog named Mama was transported to Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists in Bohemia, where SPCA will hold a press conference Friday afternoon.

If anyone recognizes the dog, contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. A person convicted of abandonment of animals could be found guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
