Suffolk Woman Tries To Flee From State Trooper On L.I.E.: PD

The woman crashed her car and then tried to run away, but she was arrested, police say.

TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, NY — A woman tried to flee a New York State Police trooper by driving and running away on the Long Island Expressway on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Sade Williams, 22, of East Patchogue, was driving a black BMW 650i eastbound when a trooper tried to stop her between exits 70 and 71 of the L.I.E. in the Town of Brookhaven at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Williams exited at the Old Country Road ramp, lost control, and crashed into a sign, police said. She then ran away, police said. Williams was arrested after a short foot chase, police said.

Williams was charged with third-degree fleeing officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, second-degree obstruct governmental administration, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Williams was released on an appearance ticket. She is due back at Suffolk County First District Court on June 6.
