iPad 2 Draws Crowd to Best Buy Patchogue

Friday evening launch brings 90 customers to purchase the new tablet computer.

Approximately 90 people lined up outside Patchogue’s location Friday to buy the iPad 2, the new edition of Apple’s popular tablet computer.

The first person in line, Joe Bell of Brookhaven, waited two-and-a-half hours outside the store to purchase the device at it’s 5 p.m. launch. Bell said that he didn’t have an iPad before, and decided it would be convienient to go since it was after work.

For Lenny Speicher of Bohemia, this is the second iPad he is purchasing.

“The new one is for my wife, that’s my justification,” Speicher said.

Speicher said that he bought his original iPad on its launch day in April 2010, and that only a handful lined up for the device at the location for its debut.

The iPad's cost starts at $499 up to $829 depending on storage capacity and 3G connectivity.
