Long Island Woman, 23, Shot By Ex-Boyfriend: Police
She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released, said Suffolk police.
YAPHANK, NY — Police are searching for the ex-boyfriend of a 23-year-old woman after he shot her during an altercation in Yaphank on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.
Police were notified by a 911 call that the woman was shot at Bartlett Commons just before 9:30 p.m. The woman, whose name was not released, was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for “non-life-threatening injuries,” and released, police said. The investigation is continuing with 7th Squad detectives.

The 23-year-old woman is the second female shot nearby recently. A 15-year-old girl was shot on the Poospatuck Reservation in Mastic on Oct. 31. No arrests have been made in that case.
