Man In Critical Condition Following Suffolk Crash: Cops
His Toyota Camry was struck by a pickup truck on Medford Avenue, police said.
PATCHOGUE, NY — A man had to be airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with critical injuries after his sedan was struck by a pickup truck in Patchogue on Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
The 31-year-old Patchogue man was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry westbound on Silver Street when he tried to make a left turn onto southbound Medford Avenue and it came to a complete stop on the left northbound lane at 4:19 p.m., according to police.
A 2022 Ford F150 truck driven by a 55-year-old Patchogue man was traveling northbound on the roadway and struck the Camry, police said.

The 31-year-old Camry driver taken by police helicopter to Stony Brook in critical condition, police said, adding that the pickup driver was not injured, according to police.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact 5th Squad Detectives at 631-854-8552.

The crash is one of two serious crashes within several hours in the local area.
Earlier in the afternoon, a motorcyclist and an SUV driver were killed and two children injured in a crash on Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook. One child later died, police said.
