New Suffolk Legis. Dominick Thorne To Be Sworn In On Monday
The Republican hopes to bring positive change to Suffolk and restore common sense spending.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Incoming Republican Suffolk legislator Dominick Thorne will be sworn in on Monday.
Fifty-four-year-old Thorne takes over the 7th Legislative District, which includes the Patchogue -Medford area, replacing longtime Legis. Rob Calarco. He campaigned on bringing positive change to the county, restoring common sense spending, and protecting police and residents, while making the region more affordable. At the time, he told Patch that the most pressing issues in the county were "out of control spending, public safety, and the removal of publicly-financed campaigns."
Thorne, a political newcomer, joins the legislature as part of a Republican majority.

Thorne previously told Patch that he understand the day-to-day struggle of the everyday paycheck-to-paycheck life.
"Furthermore, I will build both Americanism and unity in our communities," he said. "We are far too divided as a nation, and Suffolk County is no exception. We must promote more conversations and less arguments. We need to reach out to communities in the 7th district that have been ignored for the last 10 years."

He also credited police for doing an "outstanding job," and noted frontline workers "must be protected, adding, "our country and county are worth fighting for."
"The residents of our area are generally good in nature," he said. "I believe that we can be a shining star, all while protecting our rights."
