O'Hara Brothers' Village Square Comes Alive as 'Gateway to Patchogue'
Brothers previously built the Bay Village Condominium complex.
Peter and Mike O’Hara are no strangers to development in Patchogue.
The brothers, owners of Capital Management Development LLC, had already constructed the Bay Village Condominium complex in South Patchogue.
The brothers have again made their mark in Patchogue with the recently completed at the corner of East Main Street and Bay Avenue.

“They built the townhouses in the south end of Patchogue and from there I got the confidence in them that they do what they say they’re going to do,” Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri said. “They’re the best partners you can have.”
The Village Square center features a Bethpage Federal Credit Union, a Checkers fast food restaurant and a 7-11.

“It’s very important for the village because originally here was the tire facility and it didn’t have a big impact – it was more industrial – and here this now has a commercial impact as you enter the village,” Peter O’Hara said.
Peter O'Hara also said that several decor aspects were taken to fit the new development in with Patchogue Village.
“We did the entire parking lot with the village lighting – that was mandated also. And it’s a big impact – I think people when they first come into a village – It’s very important, it’s a first impression for everything. And I think with a center like this it’s just good for the village,” O'Hara said.
O’Hara stressed the functionality of the business’ being together in the same shopping center, noting how traffic will be heavy at 7-11 in the morning, heavy at Checkers during lunch and dinner and steady at the bank all day long.
“I’m very proud of the center and it means a lot to the community,” O’Hara said. “It’s cleaned up the corner tremendously as you first enter into the village. I think the business’ are fantastic and complement each other well.”
Pontieri and Bethpage CEO Kirk Kordeleski, who was also on hand for the grand opening event on December 1, both talked about how they met four years ago and how their business relationship developed.
“Four years ago I met Kirk Kordeleski and I said to him ‘Patchogue is the place for Bethpage Federal,” Pontieri said. “For four years we looked at locations. Mike and Peter O’Hara came to me and they owned a building next to it and they talked about this space. They talked about a 7-11, they talked about Checkers and said they wanted a bank here.”
It took those four years for the project to be completed and come to fruition.
“We looked at a few locations and they didn’t quite fit what we needed with the drive-through and that sort of thing,” Kordeleski said. “We kept in touch and the O’Hara brothers were building this site and we came to look at it. We loved this place, it’s the entrance to the city and it has the perfect amount of space for us to do business.”
Everyone involved was all smiles during the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening. The Village Square was just one step in the revitalization of Patchogue, but also an important and highly visible one.
“This is the entrance to the village; this is the gateway to the Village of Patchogue,” Pontieri said. “People come down here and it’s the first thing they see – it’s beautiful.”
