Over 3K Still Without Power In Patchogue

Thousands of residents are still without power Wednesday after Tropical Storm Isaias​ hit Long Island Tuesday.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Over 3,000 residents in Patchogue are still without power as of Wednesday morning after Tropical Storm Isaias hit the area on Tuesday. The storm slammed the area on Tuesday afternoon bringing heavy rain, and winds reaching up to 80 mph. The storm caused flooding and knocked down power lines, resulting in power outages all across Long Island.

"Tropical Storm Isaias was one of the strongest storms to hit our service territory in recent years, and some outages could last for an extended period," PSEG said.

As of 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, a total of 3,164 customers all across Patchogue are still without power, according to the PSEG power outage map. In Patchogue Village 722 residents are without power, in East Patchogue 1,560 residents are without power and in North Patchogue 882 residents are without power.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, PSEG announced it has restored the power for 220,000 customers affected by the storm across Long Island. All are expected to have their power back before 4:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.

"We have made great progress overnight, restoring more than 220,000 customers affected by the strongest tropical storm to hit the area in years, and we will not rest until everyone’s power is back on," Daniel Eichhorn, president and COO of PSEG Long Island said. "We have also overcome many of the issues with Verizon that affected our call center operations yesterday. We understand how critical it is to share accurate and timely information with our customers and we continue working diligently to fully resolve these issues."

Within the town of Brookhaven, the Holtsville Pool is closed Wednesday due to a power outage. All Town beaches are open, but red flag conditions are still present at the Davis Park, Great Gun and Ho Hum beaches, limiting water access to knee deep wading only with no swimming. Access is also limited to West Meadow Beach due to numerous fallen trees in the area.
