Pat-Med Schools Announce Athletes of the Month

Cecilia Amone, Zachary Hicks, Taylor Hanscom and Bradley Underwood were named Athletes of the Month for September and October.

PATCHOGUE, NY - From The Patchogue-Medford School District: The September and October Athletes of the Month in Pat-Med were recognized for displaying excellence in the areas of academics, athletics and community service.

September: Cecilia Amone, Senior, Volleyball and Zachary Hicks, Senior, Football

Cecilia is a leader on the team and in the school. She is a role model on the court and is a motivator on the team utilizing positive comments with her teammates and is counted on during key moments in a game. She led the team in many statistical categories including kills and serve percentage. Cecilia is also involved in DECA and National Honor Society as well as the Spanish National Honor Society. She is involved in community service and has volunteered for the ALS walk, ambassador to youth volleyball and soup kitchens, while carrying a 93.57 grade point average.

Zach lead Long Island in field goals in September (4-for- 5); one of which was 44 yards. Zach has never kicked before this year and that is truly an incredible feat. He is a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the Varsity Academic Team, jazz band guitarist, Venture Crew Vice-President and Spanish Honor Society. He is also involved in the community as a camp counselor and tutor through the National Honor Society. Zach is also ranked No. 5 in the senior class with a 101.68 GPA.

October: Taylor Hanscom, Senior, Tennis and Bradley Underwood, Senior, Golf

Taylor earned All-County honors for the third straight year by qualifying for the Division Tournament in early October. She also led the team to their 13 th consecutive playoff appearance. Taylor serves the community by volunteering her time at St. Jude and has raised over $10,000. She is the Key Club treasurer, member of the National Honor Society, National History Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society and also plays the trombone. Taylor carries a 100.9 GPA.

Bradley earned All-League Honors in the League I golf tournament and finished ninth overall in scoring average. He also qualified for the Section XI County Championships. Bradley volunteers his time at soup kitchens and hospitals and is an active member in the high school earning Student of the Month Honors. Bradley is also the recipient of the NYSAHPERD Suffolk Zone Award and carries a GPA of 91.23.
