Patchogue Cash Mob Coming June 30 (Update)
Event designed to encourage local shopping taking place.

Following the success of similar events in Bellport and , a Patchogue Cash Mob is scheduled to take place on June 30.
The event, which is being organized through the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Business Committee, currently involves all attendees meeting in front of at 10 a.m. with $20.
The event asks for all merchants to offer specials that day, and the Patchogue Cash Mob organizers will announce and promote all specials they are aware of, said Mary Kassner, one of the organizers, via email. The promotion is running through 2 p.m.

The event has its own Facebook page, which currently has announcements and promotions that will accompany the day such as giving out free coffee with a baked goods purchase and Cub Scout Pack 177 selling Patchogue Discount Fundrasing cards.

June 21, 4:53 p.m.: An earlier version of this article stated that only one business would be selected for the Patchogue Cash Mob, which event organizer Mary Kassner told Patch via email was misspoken by Patchogue Chamber of Commerce President Gail Hoag at the recent Village Board meeting. The article was updated to reflect that the event is not specific to one Main Street store.
