Patchogue Man Killed in North Ocean Avenue Crash

A 73-year-old Patchogue man was killed in a two-car crash in North Patchogue Wednesday morning, police said.

According to police, Christopher Young, of Bay Shore, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck north on North Ocean Avenue when his vehicle struck a 2009 Toyota, which was traveling west on Vehslage Street at about 5:05 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota, Anthony Baldassarre, was transported by the North Patchogue Fire Department to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Young, 22, was treated at the same hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
