Patchogue's NYE 'Midnight On Main' Gets Final Prep
It usually runs despite the rain, but officials are concerned about the weather, David Kennedy, chamber of commerce director said.

PATCHOGUE, NY— Patchogue Village officials are expected to meet Thursday to discuss final logistics for the "Midnight on Main" ball rise and fireworks display on New Year's Eve — with a special emphasis on the weather.
Forecasters are expecting both rain and drizzle in the evening on Saturday, according to accuweather.com.
So far, Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce Executive Director David Kennedy said the event, which has been held in rainy weather in the past, is "good to go," adding, "The wind is our real enemy."

The last one was held in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The chamber's volunteers will meet with village officials, including representatives from the public safety department, to go over final details in the afternoon, Kennedy said. When asked if the event could be canceled due to the weather, Kennedy called it a possibility.

But, he said, "The plan is to move forward."
If there any changes, the chamber will publicize them, according to Kennedy.
In addition to the ball rise and fireworks show, "Midnight on Main" will feature a DJ spinning tunes, party hats, noise makers, and a food truck. There will also be a special tribute to Louis Giancontieri, a longtime community member who was previously involved with event, but died this past year.
It will run from 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 on West Main Street and West Avenue.
