Approximately 70 children ages 6 through 14 participated recently in the 28th annual Snapper Derby at Mascot Dock.
The tournament is sponsored by J&J Bait and Tackle of Patchogue and features prizes for the first fish caught, the biggest fish caught and the most fish caught.
This year's winners for the 6 to 10 year old age group were Travis Colon (First Fish), Tyler Mastellone (Biggest Fish, 9.5") and Emyli Rose (Most Fish, 8).

The winners for the 11 to 14 year old age group were Anthony Oliva (First Fish), Kurt Meier (Biggest Fish, 10") and Joleigh Ostrick (Most Fish, 22).
This year's competition netted more than 200 fish total during the two hour tournament which is more than the previous years' total combined. The majority of the fish were caught and then released.
