Raiders Fall at Home to Hauppauge, 38-11
The Girls Basketball team had trouble generating offense all afternoon.

Patchogue-Medford's inability to generate offense most of the afternoon cost them dearly, as they fell to Hauppauge, 38-11, Thursday at the East Gym in Patchogue-Medford High School.
"Today is hopefully out of their system," Raiders coach Jeff Hansen said. "Play your worst now, get it over with before the league [schedule] starts. Nothing would go right for us. It was just one of those days. The day's over, the game's over."
Julie Williams was 5-of-7 from three-point range for the Eagles (5-0) and led all scorers with 15 points. Lindsey Alfano added 12 for the Hauppauge. The Eagles were firing seemingly at will from beyond the arch, as they were 7-for-15 on the afternoon.

"That was the game," Hansen said of Hauppauge's three-point shooting. "They hit their shots. We didn't pressure them enough to challenge their shots. Not that we made it easy for them, but we didn't make them work too hard for their shots, and they hit them."
Kierston Berwick led the Raiders with four points. The Raiders were playing without point guard Alieen Yaeger, who is still out recovering from a hairline fracture in her ankle. Her absence was notable in the Patchogue-Medford backcourt.

"In this league, you need guard play," said Hansen. "We have a couple of good forwards, but someone's got to get them the ball. If we have trouble getting them the ball, we're going to have trouble scoring. That's what happened today."
She is expected back soon, but it is unsure whether she'll be ready to go for their league opener against defending champion Sachem East on Tuesday.
