Saxton Middle School student Cassie Friedman recently won a New York State sponsored poster contest. Friedman's poster was the winning submission for New York State in the national contest sponsored by the SHADE Foundation and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The contest asked students to depict ways to keep yourself safe from the sun. Students across New York State in grades K-8 submitted a total of over 4,000 posters. Friedman's poster will be featured in the New York State Department of Health SunWise with SHADE 2012 calendar. In addition, her poster will be on the New York State Department of Health website.
