Sex Trafficking Charges For Man In Incident At Hotel In Patchogue: Police

They come after a probe by the county's Human Trafficking Unit, and detectives believe their may be other victims, police say.

PATCHOGUE, NY — A former Queens man was arrested on Saturday in connection with sex trafficking and promoting prostitution in Patchogue, Suffolk police said.

Patrol officers from the 5th Precinct responded to a 911 call for a domestic incident at the Shore Motor Inn on South Service Road at around 5:20 p.m., and when they arrived, they saw evidence of sex trafficking, according to police.

After an investigation by the department's Human Trafficking
Investigations Unit and detectives, Torrey Brown was taken into custody just after 6 p.m., police said, adding that detectives also seized cellphones, a knife, and other evidence.

Further information about the incident was not available.

Brown, a 35-year-old who has no known address, was charged with two counts of sex trafficking, one count of third-degree attempted prostitution, and one count of fourth-degree promoting prostitution, and for a parole warrant issued by state police.

Brown was held overnight at the 5th Precinct in Patchogue, pending his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, and his bail was set at $250,000, $500,000 insured bond, or $2,500,000 partially secured bond, online court records show.

Patch has reached out to his defense attorney, Scott Brian Zerner of Manhattan, for comment.

Detectives believe there may be other victims, police said.
