SJC Baseball Loses in Skyline, Forsythe Named Skyline Tennis Player of the Year
The top-seeded Golden Eagles were held winless in the Skyline Conference Tournament this past week.

The baseball team’s season came to a close this past week, as the Golden Eagles lost both games they competed in during the Skyline Conference Tournament.
Despite receiving a first-round bye for finishing first overall in the conference with a 14-2 Skyline record, SJC was knocked off early by No. 5 Old Westbury, 12-3, in the second round.
Since the Skyline Tournament was double-elimination, SJC then competed against No. 3 Mount Saint Vincent to keep their tournament alive.

Mike Petre Named Head Coach of Women's Basketball Program
After Kris Davis stepped down from the head coaching position of the SJC women’s basketball program this past season, the Golden Eagles were dealt with a task they hadn’t been presented with for the past six seasons: finding a new coach.
SJC found its man this past week, as in the program’s 14-year history.
Petre, who has a decorated high school resume, joins the Golden Eagles after spending the past 22 years at East Islip High School as an English teacher.
Petre has won three Long Island Championships and made three trips to the New York State finals over his career.
“I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to coach at the next level,” Petre said of the new task. “I hope my experiences in high school coaching have prepared me well for the new challenges ahead. I can't wait to meet the players and build upon the solid foundation that already exists at St Joseph's.”
The Golden Eagles have never won a Skyline Conference Championship, something Petre will immediately try to change.
Erik Forsythe Named 2011 Skyline Men's Tennis Player of the Year
Erik Forsythe earned the 2011 Skyline Men's Tennis Player of the Year after the eight head coaches of the Skyline programs voted.
Forsythe finished the 2011 season winning his final nine matches of the season. The Bay Shore native posted a 15-2 overall record at the No. 1 singles flight and an unblemished 7-0 record in conference play.
Forsythe was named Skyline Player of the Week three times in 2011 and also won nine matches in doubles play.
