Suffolk Cop Arrested After Pointing Gun At 3 Women: Police

The 32-year-old officer was off-duty at the time of the alleged incident last week. He has been suspended without pay.

PATCHOGUE, NY - A Suffolk County police officer has been arrested and charged with menacing following an incident last week in which he pointed a handgun at three women in Patchogue, police said.

According to police, 32-year-old Gregory Hanrahan was off-duty when he became involved in an "interaction" with the women on West Main Street around 1:44 a.m. on Nov. 5.

Hanrahan pointed a handgun in the direction of the women, police said.

Hanrahan, a two-year member of the police department assigned to the Seventh Precinct, was immediately suspended without pay and his handguns were seized, police said.

Hanrahan was charged with three counts of second degree menacing. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.

In addition to the criminal charges, a department internal investigation is underway, police said.
