Woman Killed in Suffolk County Crash

She was pulling out of an industrial complex when her Ford Explorer collided with another Ford Explorer Monday afternoon.

BELLPORT, NY – A 62-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Bellport Monday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Geraldine Schneider, of East Patchogue, pulled out of an industrial park on Farber Dive onto Station Road when the crash occurred. at about 12:55 p.m. Schneider's 2001 Ford Explorer collided with a 2004 Ford Explorer that was heading south on Station Road.

Schneider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, 79-year-old Muriel Erickson, of South Setauket, and a passenger in her vehicle were transported by South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
