Woman Seriously Hurt After Jeep Crashes Into Tree In Suffolk County
BREAKING: Police believe icy roads may have been a factor in the crash Tuesday night.
Icy roads may have contributed to a Suffolk County crash that seriously injured a 26-year-old woman Tuesday night, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, Melissa Loiacono was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on Mastic Road, south of Mastic Beach Road, when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree at 8:44 p.m.
Loiacono, of Shirley, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives believe icy roads may be a contributing factor in the crash. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-854-8752.
