2-Day Trial Leads To Conviction In Daylight Home Burglary Case

The 41-year-old Orangetown man entered a Spring Valley home, and rummaged through items, including medication and money.

NEW CITY, NY — A Hudson Valley man who violated the sanctity of a Rockland County home, is now facing the prospect of years behind bars.

District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that 41-year-old Wesleigh Gilsenan, of Orangetown, was found guilty on Jan. 30, in Rockland County Court. He was convicted of second-degree burglary after a two-day bench trial.

Following the verdict, Gilsenan was remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail, and is facing up to 15 years in prison, when sentenced on April 29.

On April 24, of last year, around 10:50 a.m., Gilsenan entered the first-floor apartment of a house in the Village of Spring Valley, and rummaged through items belonging to the victim, including medication and money.

"Burglary is a serious crime that violates the safety and privacy of our residents," Walsh said. "My Office remains committed to prosecuting those who violate the law and disrupt the sense of security in our neighborhoods."

The investigation was conducted by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County Sherriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations Unit.
