Cherish the Ladies Sell Out PRHS Auditorium for Brest Buddies Campaign
Award-winning Cherish the Ladies performed at Pearl River High School on March 5th at 8pm. They raised money for the Brest Buddies Campaign Against Cancer.
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, Cherish the Ladies, an award-winning Irish folk music group, performed to benefit Brest Buddies Cancer Campaign at Pearl River High School.
The group had the entire auditorum filled with people clapping and singing, all to raise money for breast cancer research.
The Irish Arts Forum sponsored the event for Brest Buddies, in conjunction with ArtsRock, an organization in Rockland County dedicated to producing art and music events throughout the year. ArtsRock, which is about two years old, just finished a classical music tribute and has upcoming events that include a chat with Alec Baldwin at Nyack High School on March 19th.

"We want to keep the arts alive in Rockland County," explained ArtsRock team member Dara Falco.
Before the show started, a group of young performers played a variety of Irish jigs and reels in the lobby. Cousins Molly and Kaitlin O'Riordan, playing violin and piano respectively, thoroughly enjoy their Irish heritage and love playing Irish music.

"It's a way to keep us connected," said Molly O'Riordan.
"It's a great experience and I'm excited to see the show," said Kaitlin O'Riordan.
Frontwoman Joanie Madden expressed her appreciation for the rich Irish heritage Pearl River offers.
"There's no place in America where you'll find this level of enthusiam for this music," Madden told the audience after the group's first number.
Cherish the Ladies played many pieces, both traditional and original, and many were inspired by trips the band members had to Ireland. The night was full of jokes about home and different places in Ireland.
The air was thick with good humor and happiness by the time the concert was through and everybody had great things to say about the performers and the music.
Una Cronin, of the Rockland Rose of Tralee committee, said that the music is always fun and the concert was a wonderful way to spend the night.
"It keeps our culture alive," said Pearl River resident Nuala Daly. "I can't wait for the parade."
