Driver with 4 License Suspensions Crashes into Rockland Country Club Wall

The Pomona resident was drunk, Orangetown police allege.

Jeffrey J. Burton, 37, faces a felony charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.

The Pomona resident was arrested at 6 a.m. Dec. 28 after an accident in Sparkill.

Orangetown police say Burton was driving a 2008 Mercedes Benz northbound on Route 9W when he drove off the roadway and crashed into a stone wall at the entrance to the Rockland Country Club in Sparkill.

He failed a sobriety test given by a responding officer.

Taken to Orangetown Police Department headquarters, for processing, Burton underwent a breath analysis test. His BAC registered more than .08%.

Police also checked the New York State DMV and found that Burton’s driver’s license had been suspended four times including a suspension for driving while ability impaired by alcohol in April.

He was released on $100.00 bail and is due in Orangetown Court on Jan. 28.
