Felony DWI Charge After Guard-rail Crash In Tappan

Orangetown police were called to the scene at 11 p.m. Saturday.

TAPPAN, NY — Called to a car crash on Western Highway at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Orangetown police found a 2000 Toyota Celica lodged in a guard rail off the road. It had front-end damage.

Police said they determined that the man near it had been the operator of the car. They identified him as Accer J. Chrisostomo, 30, of Orangeburg. They concluded he was drunk and took him to police headquarters.

He took and failed a breathalyzer test, police alleged. His BAC was 0.18, more than twice the legal limit.

He has a previous conviction in New York for driving while intoxicated, police said. He now faces two felony DWI counts. He was sent to Rockland County jail in lieu of bail.
