Jaffee Honors 10 Women Of Distinction From Rockland

These state awards honor women who are making a difference in their communities.

PEARL RIVER, NY - From County of Rockland: Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee (D-Suffern) today announced that she recognized ten Rockland County women with the 2019 New York State Assembly Women of Distinction Award. These awards honor women who are making a difference in New York State, their communities and in the lives of others. They are women who have overcome obstacles, gone above and beyond to enact positive change, to do what’s right and to inspire those around them.

Recognized in the Assembly Chambers at the New York State Capitol on Monday, April 8, were Jean Fields, retired Principal, Ramapo High School; Dr. Gail Golden, Co-Chair, Rockland County Immigration Coalition; Sabrina Hosang, CEO, Caribbean Food Delights; Hilda A. Kogut, Adjunct Instructor Criminal Justice, Dominican College and Chair of CUPON Chestnut Ridge; Sister Cecilia La Pietra, OP, Director, One to One Learning; Michele Paraison, RN, Advisor, Haitain American Nurses Association (HANA); Martha Robles, retired Executive Director, Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland; Laurie Seeman, Founder, Strawtown Studio; Susan Shapiro Esq., Environmental Attorney; and Ouida Foster Toutebon, Executive Director, Head Start of Rockland.

Assemblywoman Jaffee said, “It is my distinct pleasure to recognize these ten remarkable Rockland County women. The 2019 Women of Distinction Awards are an important opportunity to pay tribute to these women, whose strength, vision, hard work and compassion are lifting up others, strengthening our communities, our economy, and improving our quality of life.”
