Back Behind Bars After Harassing DWI Victim
Two years after a horrific crash and 10 months after getting out of jail, the drunk driver is sentenced again.

PEARL RIVER, NY — A Rockland County businessman who caused a drunken-driving car crash in Clarkstown that nearly killed several people, was sentenced to one to three years in state prison for violating the terms of his probation. Matthew Beckerle goes to prison in connection with a series of bizarre incidents that took place right after he finished serving four months of a six-month jail sentence for the crash.
Beckerle was sentenced on Nov. 21, according to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.
In February 2017, right after he got out of jail, Beckerle, a Pearl River resident, accosted one of his victims from the 2015 accident. Then he was arrested for shoplifting. Then he was found peering into windows in her neighborhood. He threatened the police officer who told him to stop. The Rockland County Department of Probation filed a violation of probation petition a day later.
