When did your business open?

I launched Color With Style in September 2016.

How did you come up with the name?

I actually remember sitting at my kitchen table jotting down a bunch of name ideas. I decided on Color With Style because I knew that I wanted to focus my business specifically on multidimensional hair color.

Why start a business in this town?

Pearl River has been my hometown since I was fifteen years old. This is where I met my late husband and where we raised our children. Pearl River is where my roots are, where my support system lives.

What business are you in?

Cosmetology – specifically single process coloring, glazing, color correction, tint back, multi-dimensional highlights/lowlights, color block technique, deep conditioning treatments, hair cut & style, formal style, and upstyle.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced starting a new business?

Scheduling! When you run your own business, you never really get to clock out. It can get a little overwhelming at times, but I’m making improvements to better plan my time.

What’s one highlight you've had since opening?

Launching my business was so exciting (and a little scary)! I had so many wonderful friends and family members stop by to wish me luck during that first week – it’s one of the many perks to working in Pearl River.

How does your business give back to the community?

As a cosmetologist, I have been a volunteer with American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better program for over twenty years. Once a month, I go to Good Samaritan or Nyack Hospital to help facilitate sessions for patients facing appearance challenges due to their cancer treatments.
