Sisters Cancel St. Dominic's Autumn Festival

The event is the latest casualty of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but the raffle is still on.

BLAUVELT, NY —The Sisters of Saint Dominic have canceled their annual Autumn Festival, which was scheduled for Saturday, due to the continuing pandemic.

It is one of the longest-running fall festivals in the region — this would have been its 70th year. The convent grounds provide a beautiful setting for a day filled with shopping, food, games, music and amusements for the hundreds who attend from New York and New Jersey.

The sisters are still holding the annual raffle and you can still buy a ticket or three.

"As the number of COVID cases continues to rise in our area, we have decided with great disappointment to cancel the Autumn Festival," they said. "We are grateful to all who supported us this year as donors, sponsors, vendors, and by purchasing a raffle ticket. Let us continue to pray for an end to this virus and for healing to all affected by it."

The annual Grand Prize Raffle is ongoing, and the winners will be announced at 10 a.m. Thursday on a livestream shared on their Facebook and YouTube pages.
